Great Chefs Cooking for Great Friends

Project

With the guidance of a good chef, individual ingredients meld into tempting dishes that simmer until everything comes together in a whole that’s more delicious than its parts. In that way, cooking is much like cookbook design. The Friends of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values both, and asked renown chef Ken Oringer and Schwadesign to get in the kitchen – all to develop the most delicious and delightful fundraising tool they’ve had in years.

Process

Take three seasoned designers, steep in seven years of collaborative experience. Mix in two photographers and one calligrapher, blend until smooth. Let the project team work for two weeks researching and creating. When ideas come to a boil, remove from heat and reduce by half. Pour in content. Allow to simmer, skimming off unnecessary fat. Serve, enjoy, and most of all, trust your chef – in this case, you’ll yield a cookbook that has raised more than $100,000 for the Friends of Dana-Farber.

Provided

Project strategy & leadership, photography supervision, print design & production, promotional collateral (fundraising invites, point-of-sale displays, bookmarks, posters), and recipe taste-testing.

Additional project support from Ben Spear, Pier Gustafson, Jordan Silverman, and Francine Zaslow.

“Without hesitation, I recommend collaborating with Schwadesign on your next project. It’s been a remarkable design experience.”— Ed Perlmutter, Committee Member and Editor, Great Chefs Cooking for Great Friends
