- Fox Creek Development
opportunity
Fox Creek Development came to us with their name already in place, ironically riffing on suburbia’s quintessential nods to the flora and fauna it so sprawlingly displaces. Principal Evan Matthews told us what he wanted his business to do – repioneer suburbia as mixed use places where we work, live, and shop by walking. Fox Creek seeks to redesign suburbia into a place with scale and vitality, and we needed to flesh out that identity.
Schwadesign solution
First, we created a logo that mimics an architectural rendering, and subtly drafted the letters F and C within the sketch’s roads and green space. Midstream, a subsidiary emerged; Deer Meadow Partners will often be the public “face” for much of Evan’s work. With an identity already coming together, we were challenged to create a mark for Deer Meadows that would be associated – but distinct – from that of Fox Creek. By flipping the emergent Fox Creek identity, suddenly we had a D. And by selecting a gentle blue palette for Fox Creek and soft greens for Deer Meadow, nature’s own tonalities bolster identities for Evan’s two endeavors that seek to find harmony between the land and new development. The tagline, “reDefining suburbia | reConnecting suburbia” summarizes the company’s mission to both reinvigorate the existing suburban landscape while also rekindling community within existing fragmented sprawl.
